Project Overview

Schaduf, in partnership with the German Development Agency (GIZ), implemented Ezbet El-Nasr 1, the first rooftop farming project in Cairo and Egypt.
The project aimed to support low-income families by introducing rooftop farming systems that enable the cultivation of leafy vegetables and create additional income opportunities. Schaduf was responsible for system implementation and capacity building through technical training.

Project Results:

• 15 families supported (approximately 60 individuals)
• 6 rooftop farms implemented
• 24 planting units per rooftop farm
• Total cultivated area: 90 sqm
• Total production: 2,970 cups
• Training delivered to 25 participants
